Thanks to technology, women have more and more control over their fertility

How should I think about egg freezing? Good question. We think of it as an insurance policy. A darn good one. And that's also how we charge you, just $150/month.

WHY NOW

Maybe you've been thinking about egg freezing for awhile, maybe you've even tried it before - or maybe this is a new topic for you. Either way, there's a few things you should know.

The first is that the younger you are when you freeze your eggs, the better. There are several advantages. One, you're likely to get more eggs the younger you are, and that's good because the more eggs you have on ice the better the insurance policy, so speak. You also likely won't have to repeat the procedure. Two, the egg quality is higher when you are younger.

Second thing you need to know is the technology. Today's freezing technology is called 'vitrification' and it's a breakthrough. Previously, only 50-60% of eggs would survive. Now with vitrification 90-95% survive.

Third is the procedure. What is it really like? In truth, everyone experiences it a little differently. Then again our bodies are unique. Typically, you'll have an initial period of a few weeks where your doctor is checking your hormone levels and making sure it's a "good cycle" to work with. We minimize the inconvenience of clinic blood draws by having a nurse come to you, so you should experience minimum disruption to your work schedule. Then, you'll have two weeks of "stimulation" with medication to get your body to grow extra follicles. During this period you will need frequent check ups so it is true that you'll need to minimize travel and block off your calendar (although not stop working). At the end of the two weeks, the eggs are retrieved. The retrieval procedure if pretty straight forward and there's a mild sedative so no driving, but most patients are back to work the next day. That's about it.

So, it's never been easier, safer, or more affordable to freeze your eggs.
